A new electron injector source is also part of LCLS-II\u2019s scope. The result will be the world\u2019s most advanced free electron laser (FEL) light source.<\/p>\n<p>Keller\u2019s responsibility includes the production manufacturing of the soft X-ray undulators, as well as a large portion of the hard X-ray undulators. According to <a href=\"http:\/\/atap.lbl.gov\/atap-news-march-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Berkeley Lab\u2019s ATAP News<\/a>, all work on the pre-production soft X-ray (SXR) undulator has been completed and delivered to SLAC for long-term testing. The <a href=\"http:\/\/newscenter.lbl.gov\/2017\/04\/27\/next-gen-xray-laser-special-delivery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">devices arrived at Berkeley Lab<\/a> in Menlo Park, CA, after a cross-country journey from Keller Technology\u2019s Buffalo, NY, facility.<\/p>\n<p>Undulators are precision electro-mechanical devices. Their function is to undulate the electron beam produced by the linac with permanent magnets in order to create coherent X-ray band light. There will be two undulator arrays: one to produce soft X-rays and the other to produce hard X-rays. The light produced will be directed down several beamlines and utilized for a broad array of scientific applications including chemistry, materials science, biology and energy research.<\/p>\n<p>The LCLS-II undulator program is an excellent fit for Keller\u2019s vertically-integrated capabilities, which include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kellertechnology.com\/precision-fabrication\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">precision welding\/fabrication<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kellertechnology.com\/precision-fabrication\/large-format-5-axis-machining\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">five-axis machining<\/a>, assembly, integration, metrology and testing.
